Aikido (合気道, aikidō),is a form of Japanese Budo, a path to self improvement based on martial art techniques. The goal of our study is not to defeat or control others, but to defeat and control our own egos. Students work as partners to study dynamic throws and powerful pins. It may look like they are fighting, but they are actually learning how to fit together and create harmony instead of conflict. We study harmony in Aikido so that we may learn to live in harmony with nature and the world around us.
